The Nasarawa State University, Keffi, has matriculated 7,500 students into its various undergraduate programs for the 2024/2025 academic session. The matriculation ceremony took place at the Convocation Square of the university.
In her address, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman, congratulated the newly admitted students and described the occasion as unique, being her first matriculation ceremony as the substantive Vice-Chancellor. She also noted that the ceremony coincided with the holy month of Ramadan, emphasizing the values of sacrifice, love, and mercy.
Professor Liman urged the students to complete their registration formalities within the given deadline and advised those admitted into the 10 new programs to work hard to justify the confidence reposed in the university by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
The Vice-Chancellor also cautioned the students against engaging in violence, destruction of university property, and unethical conducts, such as indecent dressing, sexual harassment, examination malpractice, and cultism. She advised them to familiarize themselves with the university's examination regulations and the policy document of the Students Affairs Division.
In a gesture of support, the university offered assistance to 15 displaced students whose off-campus accommodation was gutted by fire on February 3, 2025. Each student received Fifty Thousand Naira (50,000) and free hostel accommodation to alleviate their suffering.
The matriculation oath was administered to the newly admitted students by the Registrar, Dr. Bala Isyaka Ahmed II. The ceremony was also held simultaneously at the Faculty of Engineering, Gudi-Campus, and the Faculty of Agriculture, Shabu-Lafia Campus, presided over by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, Professor Abdullahi Sallau Modibbo.
