Comrade Odoba Abel Oche, the State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Oyo State, emphasizes the crucial role of cultural heritage, stating that a nation devoid of such heritage has no future.

During the cultural carnival for the 2023 Batch C stream 1 Corps members at the Oyo State NYSC permanent orientation camp in Iseyin, Odoba highlighted that culture is the distinguishing identity of a particular group, reflecting their ways of life.

Appearing in full traditional attire, Odoba commended Nigeria's rich and diverse cultural heritage, expressing that the country's pluralistic nature is a source of pride to be showcased globally.

He urged Corps members to utilize their service year to learn, tolerate, and embrace other people's cultures, aligning with the national integration mission of the National Youth Service Corps.

Mr. Lasaki Oladeji, head of the socials committee, emphasized the integral role of culture in human existence, encouraging Corps members to proudly display and protect their cultural identity wherever they go.

The carnival featured diverse cultural presentations, including Kalabari, Ijaw, Hausa, Gbari, Edo, among others, by Corps members on a platoon basis. The panel of judges, led by Mr. Muyiwa Akinbode, evaluated the presentations based on originality, dance, and costumes.

Platoon 8, representing the Kalabari culture, emerged as the winner, followed by 9 platoon representing Igbo culture in 2nd place and 7 platoon representing Gbari culture securing 3rd position.
