NAUS Condemns Abduction of 20 Medical Students, Demands Immediate Action

The National Association of University Students (NAUS) has condemned the kidnapping of 20 medical students on the Otukpo-Otukpa-Enugu Road on August 15, 2024. The students were en route to an academic convention organized by the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students when the incident occurred.

NAUS criticized the security lapses that allowed this abduction to happen on a major federal road, calling for immediate government action to secure the students' safe return and to prevent future occurrences.

The association has urged both Federal and State Governments to enhance security measures along major transit routes, particularly those used by students. NAUS reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that students can pursue their education without fear, and called on all stakeholders to support their demand for accountability and improved security.
