Following his formal assumption of duty as the fourth substantive Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Mohammed Isa Kida held his inaugural meeting with the university’s principal officers and management team on Thursday, February 12, 2026. 

The meeting, which included the Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Registrar, Bursar, and University Librarian, served as the formal commencement of Professor Kida’s administration following the expiration of Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman's tenure.

Administrative Continuity: Professor Kida pledged to sustain the developmental momentum established by his predecessor while introducing new strategies to enhance institutional stability and academic excellence.

New Appointments: To kickstart his administration, the Vice-Chancellor presented appointment letters to key aides, including Dr. Bashir Ozomata as Chief of Staff, Dr. Musa Bashir Agbawu as Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties, and Mr. Anwar Liman as Personal Assistant.

Policy Direction: In his inaugural address, Prof. Kida—a Professor of Accounting and former Dean of the Faculty of Management Science—emphasized a policy of "open-door" leadership and warned staff not to mistake his "simplicity for weakness," calling for discipline and collective responsibility.

Strategic Focus: The new management team discussed expanding access to quality higher education, promoting research innovation, and strengthening the university’s digital and physical infrastructure.
