Somtochukwu Okwuoha, a 26-year-old Nigerian pursuing a Master’s degree at Dundee University in Scotland, has been sentenced to 40 months in prison for making terrorist threats against both staff and students at the institution.

According to a BBC report, Okwuoha, an international energy studies student, faced charges related to his claims of possessing a military background and his alleged capability to create bombs and release a deadly virus on the city. The Peth Sheriff Court, after a thorough investigation, found him guilty of these charges.

The court also revealed that Okwuoha asserted his affiliation with the terror group ISIS, stating that he had enlisted their help to bomb the university. Furthermore, he explicitly informed university staff about his plan to target the city in a chemical attack.

Sheriff William Wood, presiding over the case, emphasized the detrimental impact of Okwuoha's presence in the United Kingdom on public safety. As a result, he recommended Okwuoha's deportation, stating, “Your presence in the United Kingdom is not conducive to the public good.”

The charges against Okwuoha included threats of mass murder, terrorism, planting bombs, and using biological weapons. The court found him guilty of revealing staff details to international authorities and threatening to behead police officers while claiming to have planted bombs at Dundee University.

Okwuoha, who arrived in the UK in 2021, had faced additional charges related to his behavior towards a fellow female student who rejected his advances. The court revealed that he was abusive towards her and attempted to have her removed from her university course, leading to his suspension.
