Nigerian Scholar Achieves Exceptional Master's Degree in Poland and Wins Best Student Award

Her pursuit of knowledge led her to Poland, where she embarked on her master's degree in Financial Economics at the University of Opole, Poland (Uniwersytet Opolski).

Damilola Akinbodunse, a talented Nigerian student, has achieved a remarkable feat by obtaining a master's degree with an exceptional grade of 99% from the University of Opole in Poland (Uniwersytet Opolski). Not only did she excel academically, but she was also recognized as the best-graduating student in her class.

Damilola Akinbodunse's academic journey began with a bachelor's degree in Industrial Mathematics from the Federal University of Technology Akure in Nigeria. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to Poland, where she embarked on her master's degree in Financial Economics at the University of Opole, Poland (Uniwersytet Opolski).

In an interview with FUTA BRO, Damilola reflected on her achievements. She acknowledged that despite graduating with a second-class lower grade for her bachelor's degree, she valued the foundation it provided. Unfortunately, her initial grade did not secure her a scholarship for her master's degree. However, Damilola persisted in her pursuit of higher education.

She was accepted by the University of Passau in Germany for a master's program in Computational Mathematics. Damilola faced the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced her to take online classes during the first year of her program. Subsequently, she began applying to other universities to further her education.

With the support of her brother, Damilola was admitted to the University of Opole in Poland to study Economics Concentration for Sustainable Development. As she delved into economics courses, she found a new passion for the subject and decided to transition from her ongoing degree in Computational Mathematics.

Balancing her studies with work was no small feat for Damilola. She worked with Credit Suisse, a global investment bank and financial service firm, alongside her academic pursuits. Juggling the demands of her studies and her job required her to put in extra hours due to missed lectures. Damilola mentioned that her weekends were dedicated to schoolwork, assignments, and exam preparation.

Damilola's exceptional dedication and hard work paid off as she was recognized as the best-graduating student in her class, a remarkable accomplishment. While her journey may have limited her social interactions, she emphasized the rewarding nature of her achievements and encouraged undergraduate students facing challenges to persevere, seek assistance when needed, take breaks when necessary, embrace learning, discover their strengths, and develop from there.
