Nigerian Scholar Akintunde Babatunde Wins Mandela Washington Fellowship Among 9,000 Applicants

Akintunde Babatunde, a Nigerian scholar, has emerged victorious among 9,000 applicants from Nigeria to secure the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders. This prestigious scholarship will enable Akintunde to attend premier institutions in the United States, including the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and The College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Expressing his gratitude on LinkedIn, Akintunde highlighted his excitement about the opportunity and outlined his plans to visit significant historical sites in the U.S., including James Madison’s Montpelier and James Monroe’s Highland. Additionally, he intends to focus on a project examining the shrinking civic space in Africa and the role of civic technology during his fellowship.
