Nigerians living abroad have recently advised university graduates to omit their Nigerian location when applying for jobs overseas.

This advice follows a tweet from a user identified as @Yemi, who shared his thoughts on the matter.“Ladies and gentlemen, remove Nigeria location from your CV. ‘BSC Biochemistry: Covenant University’ simple. It’s not about patriotism, you don’t want the reviewer to have a biased opinion from a CV standpoint. Learn to play the game,”

In a subsequent post, he elaborated, “This is for those applying for jobs abroad. Reduce your reference to Nigeria in your CV to the barest. A client was having a difficult time getting jobs she was qualified for in Poland. After I reviewed her CV, I removed her references to Nigeria. She got a job afterwards.”

The tweet sparked humorous reactions, particularly from students of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). One student quipped, “But my university is, University of Nigeria. What should I do? Abi I should just put only University or University of Eeeeemmmmm.”
