The Kaduna State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening security at Kaduna State University (KASU) through a strategic collaboration aimed at safeguarding students and staff.
During a courtesy visit to the university, the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Nuhu Muhammad, represented by Superintendent Susan Remo, emphasized the need for a strong partnership between security agencies and academic institutions. She highlighted the visit as an opportunity to explore ways the corps could work closely with KASU to tackle security challenges within the university community.
Superintendent Remo underscored the collective responsibility of ensuring a safe learning environment and urged KASU to actively involve the NSCDC in security-related programs. She also assured the university of the corps' readiness to provide assistance whenever security concerns arise.
As part of the initiative, the NSCDC proposed organizing training sessions for students on self-defense techniques to equip them with essential skills for personal safety. Prof. Musa commended the NSCDC for its proactive approach in engaging with the institution and expressed confidence that the partnership would enhance safety measures on campus. He specifically welcomed the involvement of the NSCDC’s Female Strike Force, emphasizing its critical role in ensuring the security of female students, particularly those in the hostels.
Echoing the Vice-Chancellor’s sentiments, KASU’s Registrar, Samira Balarabe, Esq., lauded the dedication of the Female Strike Force and encouraged them to sustain their commitment to protecting lives and maintaining peace within the university community.
