North-Eastern University, Gombe, Matriculates 400 New Students

North-Eastern University (NEU), Gombe State's first private university, formally inducted no fewer than 400 newly admitted students during its fourth matriculation ceremony on Saturday.

The ceremony, held on the university campus, marked the formal swearing-in of the students into various academic programmes across the institution’s faculties.

In his address, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Yusuph Amuda Yahaya, welcomed the new cohort and reiterated the university’s commitment to "academic excellence, discipline, and integrity." He urged the students to remain focused, law-abiding, and dedicated to their studies, emphasizing NEU's determination to sustain its reputation as a premier centre of quality teaching and learning in Nigeria.

Professor Yahaya reaffirmed the university's resolve to maintain an enabling academic environment, supported by modern facilities, qualified staff, and policies designed to promote sound character and scholarship.

Dr. Sani Jauro, Pro-chancellor of the university, advised the matriculating students to take their academic journey seriously. He underscored that NEU was established not only to impart academic knowledge but also to instill moral values and discipline. Dr. Jauro announced a new student welfare initiative: the provision of free cooking gas on campus to ease daily living conditions and enhance safety.

Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya, represented by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Muhammad Shettima Gadam, commended the university's progress and its role in enhancing access to tertiary education within the state. He urged the new students to utilize the opportunity for learning, self-development, and responsible citizenship.
