FUNAAB Continues to Groom Leaders for Nigerian Higher Education, Top Registry Staff Appointed McPherson University Registrar

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has reaffirmed its reputation as a leading institution for developing higher education leaders, following the appointment of one of its senior administrators, Mrs. Emilomo Joy Alawode, as the third substantive Registrar of McPherson University (McU), Seriki-Sotayo, Ogun State.

Mrs. Alawode, previously a Deputy Registrar at FUNAAB, was appointed by the McPherson University Board of Trustees. This appointment underscores the growing national recognition of FUNAAB’s administrative depth and its consistent role in training principal officers for universities across Nigeria.

A seasoned university administrator, Mrs. Alawode brings decades of rich professional experience spanning academic administration, human resource management, governance, and public relations. Her history with McPherson University includes a foundational role in 2012 as the pioneer Visiting Deputy Registrar, where she helped establish administrative systems and launched the university’s first official news bulletin, MCU Echo.

Throughout her tenure at FUNAAB, Mrs. Alawode managed extensive student and staff records and introduced digital administrative tools that reportedly improved operational efficiency by over 60 per cent. In her role as Head of the Academic Staff Establishment Unit, she pioneered the use of e-meeting folders for the Appointments and Promotions Committee, streamlining processes and reducing paper usage. As Head of the Directorate of Public Relations at two different times, she laid the groundwork for the university's official social media presence and contributed to policy formulation at both Senate and Governing Council levels.
