NOUN Receives Generous Gift of OCSS Property from Eziama/Mgbaja Community

In a commendable move, the Eziama/Mgbaja Autonomous Community in Ossah Ibeku Umuahia North Local Government Area, Abia State, has generously ceded a portion of Ossah Community Secondary School (OCSS) to the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) for use as a study centre.

The formal handover ceremony took place on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, with Prof. Issac Butswat, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), representing Prof. Olufemi Peters, the Vice-Chancellor of NOUN. This decision comes after NOUN's disengagement from a memorandum of understanding with the National Root Crops Research Institute (NRCRI) in Umudike.

Prof. Peters expressed gratitude to His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti (the Executive Governor of Abia State), the Ministry of Education, the Eze (traditional ruler), and the people of Ossah Community for their pivotal roles in facilitating the property transfer. He emphasized that the study center would not only bring education closer to the community but also enhance educational opportunities for its residents.
