The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Ibadan branch, and the University of Ibadan have reached an agreement to collaborate on the development of engineering, with a particular focus on providing internships for students. This agreement was reached during a meeting between the Chairman of NSE, Ibadan branch, Mr. Ibraheem Folarin Bello, along with other executives and members of the branch, and the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode Adebowale.

During the meeting, Mr. Bello highlighted the NSE's intention to foster synergy between academia and industries by creating workable programs for engineers in both sectors. He emphasized the importance of collaboration in providing advisory services to the university on professional engineering matters, such as the TCN project, and offering engineering consultant services when needed.

Moreover, Mr. Bello expressed the NSE's readiness to assist the University of Ibadan in facilitating the placement of students for their SIWES program, providing practical experience to complement their classroom learning. Additionally, the NSE aims to collaborate with the university on specialized training for students in engineering software and the latest tools.

In response, the Vice-Chancellor, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics, Professor Ronke Bayero, acknowledged the University of Ibadan's commitment to excellence and expressed a desire for further improvement. She emphasized the university's dedication to enhancing the skills and knowledge of its engineering staff through training programs and scholarships. Furthermore, she welcomed the partnership with NSE Ibadan in providing internships for students, aiming to ensure they are well-prepared to compete globally.
