NSUK Commends DSS for Rescue of Faculty of Agriculture Dean

The Management of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), has commended the Department of State Services (DSS) for the successful rescue and safe return of the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Samuel Okunsebor, following his abduction.

In a statement, the University, under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sa'adatu Hassan Liman, expressed appreciation to the DSS for its professionalism, commitment, and intelligence-driven operations that led to the Dean's recovery.

Prof. Okunsebor was abducted by armed men in the early hours of Wednesday at Mile Uku, a boundary community between Lafia and Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State.

The University said it was relieved by the news of his rescue and commended the security operatives for ensuring his safe return without harm.

NSUK disclosed that no ransom was paid for the Dean's release and noted that two suspects had been arrested in connection with the incident, describing the development as evidence of the effectiveness of coordinated security operations.

The institution also appreciated the Nasarawa State Government, members of the University community, traditional rulers, religious leaders, the media, and other well-wishers for their support, prayers, and encouragement during the period of uncertainty.

The University stated that the successful rescue reinforces confidence in the nation's security architecture and highlights the importance of collaboration among security agencies.

Prof. Okunsebor has since reunited with his family and is undergoing medical evaluation, while the University expressed hope for his full recovery and eventual return to his academic and administrative responsibilities.

The Management assured staff and students of its continued commitment to strengthening security measures across the University's campuses through collaboration with relevant authorities.

NSUK further commended the DSS for its courage and professionalism, while expressing confidence that ongoing investigations would lead to the prosecution of all individuals connected to the crime.
