Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), has been awarded the Distinguished GovTech Trailblazer's Award for 2024, a prestigious recognition of her exceptional leadership in advancing digital governance within the university. The award was presented during a dinner and ceremony hosted by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms at the renowned NICON Luxury Hotel in Abuja on Friday, October 11, 2024.

Since her appointment as Vice-Chancellor in April 2024, Professor Liman has been at the forefront of a strategic digital transformation agenda at NSUK. Her administration has implemented a series of groundbreaking initiatives designed to integrate cutting-edge technology into the university’s core operations, enhancing the quality of education and administrative efficiency.

In her acceptance speech, Professor Liman expressed deep appreciation for the honor, thanking the Bureau of Public Service Reforms for recognizing her efforts and the university's commitment to digital advancement. She highlighted that her administration has been deliberately engaging in a “Digital Revolution” as one of its primary strategic goals. This initiative has focused on modernizing key systems within the university, promoting transparency, improving service delivery, and fostering innovation.

Key achievements of Professor Liman’s digital governance strategy include upgrading NSUK’s internet capacity from 156mbps to 1Gbps, facilitating faster and more reliable internet access for both students and staff. Additionally, the introduction of Computer-Based Testing (CBT) across several platforms has streamlined academic assessments, ensuring greater transparency and efficiency in the examination process. Another milestone includes enhancing the management of the student payment portal, which has reduced financial leakages and improved overall accountability.

Professor Liman emphasized that these digital initiatives have significantly improved the transparency and integrity of the university’s academic and administrative processes. They have also strengthened NSUK’s revenue base by addressing unethical practices and ensuring the sanctity of academic records.

The Distinguished GovTech Trailblazer’s Award also recognizes Professor Liman's contributions to the Federal Government’s broader digital transformation agenda in the public sector. Her leadership has positioned NSUK as a model institution for the integration of technology into governance and academic operations, making it a benchmark for other universities to follow.

The award ceremony also honored other distinguished personalities, including the Governor of Niger State, His Excellency Muhammad Umar Bago, and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, further highlighting the event’s significance in celebrating individuals and institutions making strides in digital governance across Nigeria.
