The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved four new academic programmes for Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, marking a significant expansion in the institution’s academic offerings for the October 2026 intake.

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved four new academic programmes for Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, marking a significant expansion in the institution’s academic offerings for the October 2026 intake.

The approved programmes are Software Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Public Health, and M.Phil/Ph.D Architecture.

The approval followed a comprehensive resource verification exercise conducted by a panel of NUC experts who visited the university to assess the adequacy of its human resources, infrastructure, laboratories, workshops, studios, teaching facilities, and other academic requirements for the proposed programmes.

In a formal communication to the Vice-Chancellor, the Commission congratulated the university on the successful outcome of the exercise and urged it to sustain its commitment to providing adequate academic and material resources for the continued growth of the newly approved programmes.

During the verification exercise, the NUC team commended the university’s infrastructural development, state-of-the-art facilities, conducive learning environment, and its commitment to maintaining high standards in teaching and learning.

Reacting to the approval, the Vice-Chancellor of Elizade University, Professor Philip Oguntunde, expressed appreciation to the National Universities Commission for what he described as a thorough, professional, and objective evaluation process.

Professor Oguntunde said the approval reaffirms the university’s commitment to academic excellence and its long-term vision of producing globally competitive graduates equipped with technical competence, entrepreneurial skills, and innovative capacity.

According to him, the newly approved programmes are designed to respond to emerging national and global needs in technology, healthcare, and the built environment.

He noted that Software Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering align with the institution’s drive to remain competitive within the Fourth Industrial Revolution, while the Public Health programme is aimed at preparing professionals capable of addressing contemporary health challenges and improving community well-being.

The Vice-Chancellor further stated that the approval reflects the university’s strategic direction toward strengthening research, innovation, and industry-relevant education.

He added that the development will enhance the university’s capacity to contribute to national development through advanced research, technological innovation, and the training of skilled manpower across critical sectors of the economy.

Mr. Adegbenro further noted that the approval of M.Phil/Ph.D Architecture programmes represents a major boost for postgraduate education and advanced research in the field, strengthening the university’s academic depth.
