For the sustenance of quality and appropriate standards of nursing education, the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria has visited the recently approved Department of Nursing Science of Topfaith University, Mkpatak, Myschoolnews report.

The visit, which took place from October 23 to 24, 2023, provided opportunity for the Nursing and Midwifery Council, as a regulatory body for the practice of nursing in Nigeria,  to review the fundamentals necessary for high quality nursing education in the Bachelor of Science programme of the University. The Council brought its expertise and insights to the university's nursing education programme. 

 

The visit specifically provided an opportunity for the Council to assess the curriculum, teaching methodologies, infrastructure, and overall readiness of Topfaith University, Mkpatak to mount the 5-year Bachelor of Nursing Science programme.

Welcoming the Council team in his office, Professor Patrick Ebewo, Vice-Chancellor of Topfaith University, expressed gratitude for the Council's visit, highlighting the university's dedication to producing well-trained nursing professionals who will meet the healthcare needs of Nigeria and beyond. Prof Ebewo confirmed that the collaboration between the Council and Topfaith University demonstrates a commitment to upholding the highest standards in nursing education.

After a comprehensive tour of the facilities in the Department of Nursing Science of the university, Dr. Justin Ingwu, a lead member of the Council's team, commended Topfaith University for its efforts and emphasized the importance of aligning nursing education with the evolving healthcare landscape. He reiterated the role as a council in ensuring that nursing programmes meet the national and international standards. He further expressed their encouragement by Topfaith University's dedication to quality education and looked forward to continued collaboration.
