NYSC Directs Married Female Corps Members to Seek Redeployment to States Where Husbands Reside

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a directive for married female Corps members who have been posted to states where their husbands do not reside, advising them to seek redeployment to more suitable locations.

The announcement was made via a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Monday, August 26. The directive applies specifically to members of the 2024 Batch "B" Stream II.

The NYSC’s statement read, “ATTENTION ALL 2024 BATCH ‘B’ STREAM II MARRIED FEMALE PROSPECTIVE CORPS MEMBERS. All married female Prospective Corps members (PCM’s) who are deployed to states where their husbands are not domiciled should report to the nearest NYSC Orientation Camp for their state of deployment to be changed.”

Affected Corps members are required to present themselves at the nearest NYSC Orientation Camp during the registration period, along with copies of their marital and other relevant documents. These documents will serve as evidence for their request to have their state of deployment changed. Once approved, the changes will be updated on the Corps members' dashboards, allowing them to reprint their deployment letters.

The NYSC, established to promote national unity and selfless service among Nigerian youths, continues to emphasize the importance of accommodating the personal circumstances of its members, particularly in cases where family unity is concerned. This redeployment policy is part of the scheme's ongoing efforts to ensure that Corps members can fulfill their service year obligations without undue hardship.

The initiative underscores the NYSC’s commitment to fostering a spirit of unity and support among Nigerians, ensuring that cultural or social differences do not impede the service experience of any Corps member.
