NYSC Takes Voters Education To Schools, sensitise the Students and Teachers on the electoral process

The INEC Community Development Service group, Olorunda Local Government Area had on Tuesday visited the Fakunle Comprehensive High School and the Unity Grammar School to sensitise the Students and Teachers on the electoral process. 

The CDS Group presided over by Ojelade Opeyemi Esther led different delegates to the Schools to carry out the voters' sensitisation, educating them on the voters’ rights and the duties of the highest electoral body, INEC.

The sensitisation program was targeted at the whole students, including those outside the age of voting.

The Group enlightened the students on those who can vote and be voted for, as they must not be denied their rights as electorates as they must not be denied their rights as electorates and choosing the right people for office.

 On election irregularities, the Group enjoined the Students to avoid being used to cause nuisance, as such activities have  consequences.

Among other things, the Group educated the Students on the importance of elections, the place of INEC as the umpire and their role in governance as citizens of Nigeria. The students were also allowed to file their questions and all were answered accordingly.

An interview with the president revealed that the mass sensitisation programme to reach out to Students in different schools had so far covered Government Schools among which are: L.A Adenle Grammar School, St. James Grammar School, St. Mark Grammar School, Anglican Comprehensive High School, Fakunle Comprehensive High School and Unity Grammar School.

She further disclosed that they had plans of extending the sensitization programme to Private Schools and other Schools within the Local Government. 

On this note she expressed her deep gratitude to the Stare Coordinator, Mrs Olayinka Abdulwahab and the Olorunda LGI, Mr Olatunji Adeniyi for their immense support. She was also grateful to their matron Mrs Olaore Olanike, Matron for Olorunda INEC CDS who inspired them along the lines of secondary schools sensitization and Mr Saka Adewuyi the Electoral Officer for Olorunda Local Government.
