OAU Welfare Officer Shuts Down Agro Mart Due to Sales of Expired Products

The Welfare Director of the Students' Union of Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, has closed a campus business known as Agro Mart, due to the sales of expired products to students.

In a recent development, the Welfare Officer of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) took a decisive action to close a campus business, known as Agro Mart within the university community.

The Agro Mart was allegedly selling expired products, posing a risk to consumers.

According to the Welfare Officer, a proper investigation revealed that all malt drinks in the Agro Mart had expired since Ferbrary 20, 2024, with some already sold to unsuspecting customers. In response to this serious breach of consumer safety, the OAU Welfare Officer promptly shut down the Agro Mart. 

This was disclosed in Memorandum from the Great Ife Students' Union of Obafemi Awolowo Univesity, Ile Ife.

The Memo states, "Expired products are not just a breach of trust; they pose a signifcant risk. Consuming products can be poisonous to students' health, leading to potential food poisoning, illness, and long term health complications. This is a matter that we take with the utmost seriousness."  

The Welfare Officer further issued a strong warning to all businesses operating within the University against selling xpired or unsafe products. Any violaters will be severly punished.

All Students' Union members are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or products to the Welfare Officer immediately.
