The Ogun State Institute of Technology has held its first Annual Registry Workshop, reinforcing its commitment to administrative efficiency and capacity development in higher education.

The workshop, which ran from March 31 to April 3, 2026, took place at the Prince Dapo Abiodun Twin-Lecture Theatre and attracted registry professionals, administrators, and stakeholders from institutions across Nigeria.
In his address, the Rector, Abiodun Oluseye, underscored the central role of the Registry in institutional performance, describing it as the backbone of administration and a critical driver of policy implementation and institutional integrity.
He emphasised that the effectiveness of any higher institution depends largely on the competence of its Registry staff, stressing the need for continuous professional development to meet the demands of modern administrative systems. According to him, the workshop aligns with the institute’s broader strategy of strengthening workforce capacity through sustained training initiatives.
The Chairman of the Governing Council, Ayotunde Odulaja, commended the Rector for his leadership and reaffirmed the Council’s support for initiatives aimed at institutional growth. He urged participants to maximise the opportunity provided by the workshop to enhance their professional capabilities.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Acting Registrar and Convener, Sakirat Olajumoke Johnson, described the workshop as a strategic intervention to strengthen the administrative framework of higher institutions. She noted that the evolving higher education landscape, shaped by technological advancement and policy shifts, requires registry personnel to continuously upgrade their skills.
Themed “Contemporary Higher Education Registry: The Imperatives of Reskilling and Upskilling,” the workshop featured lectures, panel discussions, and interactive sessions facilitated by experts in higher education administration, including keynote speaker Omojola Awosusi.
The event also drew dignitaries such as Abdul-Azeez Oluwatoyin Akinde, alongside principal officers of the institution and members of the academic and administrative community.
A major highlight was the recognition of three individuals for their contributions to education and institutional development. The honourees included Funmilayo Bolanle Adeleke, Olatunji Akinosi, and Yusuf Kamorudeen Olawale.

Organisers said the maiden edition of the workshop establishes a foundation for continuous learning, innovation, and improved service delivery within the Registry system, both within the institution and across the wider higher education sector.
