In a swift and decisive action, the Police in Maiduguri averted a potentially catastrophic situation on Monday as they successfully diffused an improvised explosive device (IED) discovered at the entrance of the University of Maiduguri, specifically Gate one.

Responding promptly, the anti-bomb squad personnel were dispatched to the scene, effectively defusing the potentially dangerous explosive device.
The discovery of the IED near Gate 1 entrance triggered panic among staff and students, particularly those currently writing their end-of-session exams.

Investigations reveal that the Police Explosives Ordinance Disposal (EOD) operatives secured the area, maintaining a cordon until they safely neutralized the explosives.
Munir Hassan Nababa, a representative of the Student Union Government, informed Yerwa Express News that despite initial panic, the situation in the school is now calm and firmly under control.
