Power Outage in Bayero University Kano Due to Strike by Electricity Employees

In a recent turn of events, Bayero University Kano (BUK) is facing a significant power outage due to an indefinite strike action by the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE).

This strike has resulted in the closure of the headquarters of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), directly impacting the university community.

The power outage is affecting various parts of the university, including Staff Quarters, Academic areas, and Students' Hostels. The University Management understands the inconvenience caused by this situation and appeals to those affected to be patient.

The management is closely monitoring the situation, and as soon as the strike issues are resolved, normal power distribution will be restored. Meanwhile, to mitigate the impact of the power outage, the university's generators will continue to supply power to Academic areas, following the load shedding schedule. In addition, power will be provided to student hostels from 7 pm to 11 pm daily.
