The Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, has urged Nigerian schools to integrate practical skills into the formal education system in the country, to bridge skill gap.

He made this statement in a meeting with stakeholders in Abuja, in their discussions on how to join practical skills in Nigeria's education system.

According to him, the meeting was aimed at combating the high rate of unemployment in the country, as well as bridging the gap of practical skills in formal educational system.

However. He noted that there is a need for a partnership and collaboration between the private and public sector, leading to economic growth in the country.

Mamman stated, "The Ministry of Education has partnered with Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), has showed the necessity for a collaboration between the public and private section. This would improve our country's economic growth and development".

Integrating practical skills into school curricula would hold significant importance in preparing students for real-world challenges and enhancing their overall educational experience. 

He revealed that these practical skills would provide student with hands-on experience that directly translates to the workplace, such as problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, and teamwork, students become better prepared for their future careers.

The President of ACCI, Chief Emeka Obegolu, shared the chamber's goal of improving skill training and entrepreneurship, through collaborations with the government. According to him, it would promote investment and innovation in educational infrastructure. He gave the establishment of ACCI Continental University as a case study.
