The University Management at Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba,(PAAU) has debunked rumours circulating on social media about a bomb allegedly placed near the University’s College of Health Sciences. They confirmed that the object in question was a hand grenade, likely misplaced by a security personnel.

The University Management at Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba,(PAAU) has debunked rumours circulating on social media about a bomb allegedly placed near the University’s College of Health Sciences.

In  swift response, the Principal Officers, in collaboration with the University’s Joint Security Force, assessed the reported venue and object.

The security team included the Police, led by Area Commander Ebri Onen, the Military, led by Major Kure, the DSS Dekina, led by Samuel John, the Vigilante group, the School Security, and the Man O’ War. They confirmed that the object in question was a hand grenade, likely misplaced by a security personnel.

Area Commander of Police, Ebri Onen, clarified that the hand grenade was not harmful. He explained, “The grenade, typically used for crowd control similar to tear gas, posed no threat in its current state.” He emphasized that the object was not a bomb nor was it positioned to cause any harm.

Mr. Onen commended the University Management and the University’s Joint Security Force for their prompt response and security vigilance. He urged the continued cooperation and alertness of all involved in maintaining the safety of the university campus.

The University Management officially assures the entire University community that the campus is safe and that the rumour of a bomb is unfounded. They emphasized their commitment to maintaining a safe environment for everyone on campus.
