Pro-Chancellor Prof. Christian Okeke Honored by UNIZIK Law Class of 1989

Prof. Christian Nwachukwu Okeke, Pro-Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University and former Dean at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, was honored by the UNIZIK Law Class of 1989 for his contributions to legal education.

Prof. Christian Nwachukwu Okeke, Pro-Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University and former Dean of the Faculty of Law at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), has been honored by the Class of 1989 Law graduates from UNIZIK. The recognition celebrates Prof. Okeke's substantial contributions to legal education and practice in Nigeria.

At the ceremony, Prof. Simon Ortuanya, former Secretary to the Enugu State Government, praised Prof. Okeke as a guiding light who has influenced the careers of legal professionals worldwide. Justice N. Emehelu, former Chief Judge of Enugu State, noted that the honor serves as a morale booster for legal educators.

Prof. Festus Eze, Pioneer Registrar of Godfrey Okoye University, highlighted the challenges Prof. Okeke overcame in leading law faculties, while Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Anthony Mogboh, lauded the Class of 1989 for their recognition of their pioneering Dean.

The Class of 1989 also announced their commitment to endow a Chair in Prof. Okeke's honor, acknowledging his role as the founding Dean at Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT). Sir Phil Emeka Chinwuba, President of the Class, known as 'The Unique Pioneers,' unveiled this initiative during the event held in Enugu.

In his response, Prof. Okeke expressed heartfelt thanks and emphasized that the accolade would inspire further contributions to legal education. Prof. Gozie Ogbodo, DVC Administration and Dean of the Faculty of Law at Godfrey Okoye University, described Prof. Okeke as a dedicated mentor and patriot, commending the Class of 1989 for their exemplary support.

The Vice-Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke, was represented by University Registrar Dr. Nnamdi N.S. Ene at the event.
