During the inauguration of the 8th Students' Union Executive and Student Representative Council (SRC) at Federal University Lokoja (FULOKOJA) on September 24, 2024, Vice-Chancellor Professor Olayemi Akinwumi emphasized the need for responsible leadership and innovation.

The event, held at the College of Health Sciences in Adankolo, saw Professor Akinwumi outline his expectations for the new student leaders, including transparent governance, promoting academic excellence, and ensuring campus security.

Highlighting recent security challenges, the VC reminded the students of their crucial role in preventing tragedies. He tasked the new SU executives to work closely with the university's security team and develop proactive measures to protect students, such as awareness campaigns about potential risks on campus.

Comrade Benjamin Timothy, the newly elected Student Union President, expressed his commitment to the role and reassured both the university management and the student community of the executive's dedication to delivering on their mandate.
