Professor Sunday Paul Bako's tenure as the third substantive Vice-Chancellor of Taraba State University has been a resounding success, marked by transformative initiatives that have reshaped the institution's trajectory.

Born in 1962 in Takum town, Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State, Professor Bako holds a degree in Botany from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria (1986), Master's (1990), and Ph.D. (2000).
Professor Bako began his career as a graduate assistant in Biological Science at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria (1987). He rose through the ranks, becoming a professor in 2006. His administrative expertise was honed during his tenure as Vice-Chancellor of Kwararafa University Wukari.
Professor Bako has received prestigious awards, including the Best Performing Vice-Chancellor (2018) by Rotaract Club District 9125 and the Kwame Nkrumah Grow Africa Price for Excellence as Icon of Nation Building in Nigeria (October 2023).
A renowned researcher, Professor Bako boasts over 120 scholarly publications in reputable local and international journals and books. He has mentored at least ten professors in the Nigerian university system.
Professor Bako is a member of several professional organizations, including the Botanical Society of Nigeria (BOSON) and Ecological Society of Nigeria (Ecoson).
A family man, Professor Bako enjoys playing badminton, listening to music, reading, writing, and traveling.
He was appointed the third substantive Vice-Chancellor of Taraba State University, Jalingo, in March 2022, by Governor Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku.
