The lecture, delivered on the first day of the two-day retreat organized by UNIPORT's Governing Council, took place at the IBOM Hotels and Golf Resort in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. Prof. Ajienka underscored the need for innovation in teaching and research, stressing the critical role of technology integration in modern education.
He also outlined strategies to boost student engagement, encourage interdisciplinary collaboration, and strengthen community partnerships. "To remain relevant in today’s fast-paced world, universities must adapt and evolve," he said, emphasizing the role of public universities as drivers of societal development.
Prof. Ajienka encouraged council members to foster an inclusive environment that promotes excellence. As the retreat enters its second day, attendees are set to discuss practical steps for transforming UNIPORT into a model institution for Nigeria and beyond.
