Professor Uduma O. Uduma Set to Assume Office as New NOUN Vice-Chancellor
Professor Uduma O. Uduma will officially commence his tenure as the new Vice-Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) on February 11, 2026, succeeding Professor Olufemi Peters.
Appointed by the NOUN Governing Council in October 2025 following a transparent selection process, Professor Uduma is a distinguished Professor of Philosophy and Logic and a Barrister at Law called to the Nigerian Bar in 2007.
Meet the New Vice-Chancellor:
Background: Born January 30, 1966, he hails from Ebonyi State and is the first indigene of the state to lead NOUN.
Academic Prowess: A first-class graduate of Philosophy from the University of Calabar, he earned his PhD from the University of Lagos.
Extensive Experience: His administrative journey at NOUN includes serving as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Director of Academic Planning, Director of General Studies, Head of Department, and a successful Study Centre Director in Abakaliki, where he boosted enrollment significantly.
Professor Uduma is widely respected for his leadership experience and expertise in philosophical analysis. Expectations for his new administration include:
