Malam Aliyu Balarabe, Rector of Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic, Sokoto, welcomed members of the Historical Society of Nigeria (HSN) to his office today. The visit was led by Prof. Attahiru Ahmad Sifawa, Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC) Administration at Sokoto State University (SSU) and a Fellow of the Society.

During the meeting, Rector Balarabe expressed his readiness to collaborate with and support the HSN on any intellectual and developmental programs it undertakes. He highlighted the dedication of the academic staff from the History and Government Unit of the Polytechnic, emphasizing their ability to handle any tasks assigned to them. This assurance underscores the institution's commitment to fostering historical scholarship and supporting the Society's initiatives.

In his remarks, Prof. Sifawa acknowledged the strong support and recognition the History and Government Unit of the Polytechnic has received under Rector Balarabe’s leadership. Accompanied by Dr. Murtala Marafa, Head of the History Department at SSU, and Malam Akilu M. Shehu Yabo, Deputy Coordinator of the Centre for Freight Forwarding and Supply Chain Management Studies at the Polytechnic, Prof. Sifawa extended his gratitude to the Rector. The delegation took the opportunity to discuss the upcoming 69th HSN Conference/Congress, which will be held in Bayelsa State. They expressed their appreciation for the Rector’s involvement as a co-presenter at the event.
