Redeemer’s University bolsters faculty with 11 new professors
Redeemer’s University has marked another milestone under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Shadrach Olufemi Akindele, ffan, fffps, with the appointment of 11 new professors to its faculty—an unprecedented development in the institution’s history.
The announcement was made during the Covenant Hour service on September 2, 2025. Prof. Akindele told the university community that the appointments had been ratified by the university council the previous week, following the 61st Statutory Meeting of the Appointment and Promotion Committee (Academic Staff) held on August 26.
“One thing I am glad to say is this: before you become a professor, your publications are sent to external assessors. And I made up my mind that I was going to handle it personally,” he said.
According to him, objectivity guided the process despite the risks. “One of the assessors even wrote saying, ‘we don’t know each other and you chose me to do this – you must be interested in objectivity!’”
The vice-chancellor added that the appointments were strong enough for him to vouch for the new professors anywhere. “Congratulations,” he told them. “Thank you for making Redeemer’s University proud. Our standards are high.”
The newly appointed professors include:
Professor M. O. Akporobaro – Business Administration & Marketing
Professor Semiu Alayande – Mathematics & Statistics
Professors Bernice Sanusi, Omowale Adelabu, Felix Talabi, and Emmanuel Ifeduba – Mass Communication
Professor Rasaki Dauda – Economics
Professor Oluwakemi Adesina – History & International Studies
Professors John Iwuh and Rantimi Julius-Adeoye – Theatre Arts
Professor Olanrewaju Adesina – Mechanical Engineering
