Renowned Journalist Chris Kehinde Nwandu to Receive Prestigious Merit Award from Igbobi College Yaba

The award recognizes his notable contributions to the association, where he served as a two-term National Publicity Secretary, Lagos State Branch Secretary, and Pioneer Editor In Chief of "The Igbobian."

In a remarkable achievement, Chris Kehinde Nwandu, the editor-in-chief of CKNNews Media Group, has been selected as one of the distinguished recipients of the 2024 ICOBA MERIT AWARD, the highest honor bestowed by Nigeria's eminent school, Igbobi College Yaba.

The announcement was made in an official statement issued on Sunday, revealing that Nwandu was chosen among 39 outstanding alumni of the premier college for his exceptional contributions. The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on February 4, 2024, within the historic walls of Igbobi College.

Chairman of the Award Committee and 1st Vice-President of Igbobi College Old Boys Association, Mr. Yomi Badejo Okusanya, explained that Nwandu's recognition stems from his dedicated service to the association. He has served as a two-term National Publicity Secretary, Lagos State Branch Secretary, and the Pioneer Editor In Chief of "The Igbobian," the association's in-house magazine.

Igbobi College Old Boys Merit Association awards are categorized into four distinct sections: Service to ICOBA, Service to Igbobi College, Service to the Nation, and Professional Excellence. This year's list of recipients includes eminent personalities such as Jimi Onanuga, Bayo Rotimi, Dr. Gbenga Aina, Major Gen Adekunle Adetayo, Dr. Lanre Olushola, Kunle Adeniji, Prof Baiyewu, Femi Tejuosho, and other notable Nigerians.

Notably, past awardees feature prominent figures like former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former Governor of Lagos State Babatunde Raji Fashola, and the current Chief of Staff to the President, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, among others.

He holds degrees from Lagos State University, Lead City University Ibadan, and the Nigerian Institute of Journalism. Additionally, Nwandu is affiliated with several professional bodies within and outside Nigeria, showcasing his commitment to excellence.
