Professor Ben Nwabueze, a distinguished legal luminary often affectionately referred to as the "Professor of Professors," has passed away. His remarkable life and pioneering achievements in the realm of academia and law are being commemorated as the world bids farewell to this eminent figure.

Born on December 22, 1932, in Atani, Professor Nwabueze's academic journey commenced at CMS Central School, setting the foundation for a lifetime of intellectual pursuit. He later pursued his higher education at the prestigious London School of Economics & Political Science, an institution renowned for its academic excellence.

From 1961 to 1965, he undertook his studies at the University of London, honing his legal acumen and establishing himself as an erudite constitutional lawyer. His dedication and passion for the field led him to assume the role of a Lecturer at Holborn College of Law, further enriching the minds of the next generation.

Subsequently, Professor Nwabueze became a Senior Lecturer at the University of Nigeria in Nsukka, where he continued to impart his extensive knowledge. His academic journey reached new heights when he assumed the position of Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Zambia, along with the role of Director of the Practice Institute of Zambia, which he held from 1973 to 1975.

Notably, his influence extended beyond the lecture halls as he served as the University Assessor for academic appointments at several prestigious institutions, including the University of Ghana, Lagos, Obafemi Awolowo University, and the University of Nigeria in Nsukka.

Professor Ben Nwabueze's legacy also includes his prolific authorship, with over 30 law books to his name. His remarkable achievements culminated in the award of a Doctorate degree in recognition of his influential works on Constitutionalism, Presidentialism, and Judicialism, thereby securing his place in the record books as only the second individual to receive this honor since the passing of Dr. T.O Elias.
