In a remarkable feat, 14-year-old Kate Ene David, a student of Intimacy with Christ International School in Nigeria, has emerged victorious in the highly competitive 2022 MTN Spelling Bee competition. Defying the odds, Kate outshone 11,000 contestants from various schools across the country to claim the coveted gold prize.

As a testament to her exceptional performance, Kate Ene David was bestowed with the honor of serving as the one-day Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MTN Nigeria Telecommunications. Her achievements did not stop there; she was also awarded a N2.5 million scholarship, a laptop, a smartphone, and an MTN goody bag.

MTN, the sponsor of the competition, extended recognition beyond Kate by awarding her English teacher a N350,000 grant and donating state-of-the-art ICT devices to her school, further emphasizing the broader impact of her success.

The competition showcased 20 top contestants, including Divine Capable Agbo, Rejoice Okechukwu, and Ann Daniel, who secured the first, second, and third runner-up positions, respectively. The collective scholarship awards and prizes for these outstanding participants amounted to over N5.7 million.
