Nigeria Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria inducts 7 first class graduates, others at RSU
The Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria has inducted 66 graduands with 7 of them having First Class Honours degree from the Rivers State University, into it’s profession, Myschoolnews gathered.
Speaking at the 16th Induction/Oath taking Ceremony, held recently at the Senate Chamber of the University, the Registrar & Chief Executive Officer of the Council, Sir (Dr.) Tosan Erhabor congratulated the First Class Honours inductees for making the profession proud and called on the Management of the University to consider them for employment.
Sir (Dr.) Erhabor charged the inductees to abide by the rules and regulations of the Medical Laboratory Science profession, adding that they should maintain high moral standards in their practice.
In his speech, the Vice-Chancellor of the University who was represented at the occasion by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Valentine Omubo-Pepple, expressed gratitude to the Lecturers, stating that parents hardly recognize the role played by them in the training of their children.
Delivering the 4th Edition of the Professor Sam Abbey Induction Lecture, Emeritus Professor Simeon Achinewhu, who spoke on the topic “Medical Laboratory Science Practice in Nigeria: Milestones, Prospects and Challenges”, highlighted the contributions of the profession in the healthcare system and economic development.
On his part, the Head, Department of Medical Laboratory Science, Prof. Ebirien-Agana Bartimaeus, called on the authorities of the institution to elevate the Department to a Faculty, noting that the Department currently has over 45 academic staff to commence a Faculty.
Responding on behalf of the inductees, Grace Ezra Gilbert who finished with a CGPA of 4.79, expressed appreciation to the Management of the University for providing the enabling environment for teaching and learning.
