RTEAN LASU Chapel Rewards Six Students with N600,000 for Academic Excellence
The Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Lagos State University (LASU) Chapel, awarded N600,000 to six LASU students on 10th February 2025, recognizing their academic excellence. The Vice-Chancellor of LASU, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, praised RTEAN for its ongoing support and growth of the scholarship program, which has expanded from two recipients in 2021 to six in 2025.

The Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Lagos State University (LASU) Chapel, on Monday, 10th February 2025, awarded a total of six hundred thousand naira (N600,000) to six undergraduate students at Lagos State University in recognition of their academic excellence. The presentation ceremony took place at the Femi Gbajabiamila Conference Hall on the main campus in Ojo, Lagos.
In her address, the Vice-Chancellor of LASU, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, who was represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Professor Olufemi Lawal, expressed heartfelt gratitude to RTEAN for its continued commitment to supporting the university. She commended the association for its efforts in giving back to LASU and praised the initiative as an example of corporate social responsibility.
The six students who were recipients of the N100,000 each for their outstanding academic performance are Julius Moses Sejide, Adeyemi Rachael, Ojo Anuoluwapo, Mafimisebi Elizabeth, Victor Oluwaferanmi, and Raheem Muftahudeen.
Professor Olatunji-Bello emphasized how the RTEAN LASU Chapel has significantly increased its scope of scholarship awards since its inception in 2021, noting that the number of beneficiaries has grown from two students in 2021 to six in 2025, and looks forward to an even greater impact in the future. She encouraged RTEAN to continue supporting the students and the university.
Dr. Abiodun Fatai-Abatan, Acting Dean of the Students' Affairs Division, commended RTEAN for its ongoing support of educational development at LASU, and for ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder the academic aspirations of deserving students. He congratulated the recipients and urged them to continue striving for excellence while serving as role models to their peers.
Comrade Nurudeen Mudashiru Eniafe, the Chairman of RTEAN LASU Chapel, recalled the beginnings of the initiative in 2016, which was rooted in his leadership of the 30th LASUSU. He expressed his appreciation for the support of past student leaders and emphasized that the success of the initiative is due to their dedication. Comrade Eniafe also highlighted the Chapel’s contributions to improving security at the university and reducing the activities of hoodlums at the institution’s gates.
He further announced that in the coming year, the number of scholarship recipients would rise to ten, with each student receiving N100,000.
Goodwill messages were delivered by several distinguished figures, including the State Chairman of RTEAN, Alhaji Samsideen Ajala Adepeju, who was represented by the State Operation Officer, Alhaji Kareem Babatunde, and various Deans and faculty members present at the event. Notable awards of excellence in leadership were presented to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olatunji-Bello, the Dean of the School of Transport and Logistics, Professor Charles Asenime, and Dr. Abiodun Fatai-Abatan, the Acting Dean of the Students' Affairs Division. Additional awards of appreciation were presented to key figures from the 30th LASUSU leadership, including President Comrade Abdulbasit Ashade, Speaker Rt. Hon. Abdulquyum Aromire, and Comrade Olawale Samuel Kappo, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State on Students' Union Affairs.
The event, which was well-attended, concluded with a vote of thanks from Mr. Abdulhameed Lawal, Deputy Registrar of the Students' Affairs Division.
This continued partnership between RTEAN LASU Chapel and the university sets a strong example for other corporate bodies and individuals to invest in the future of Nigerian students and education.
