Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has pledged to ensure that students of Lagos State University (LASU) benefit from the Federal Government’s student loan program administered by the Nigerian Education Loan Fund. Speaking at LASU's 27th convocation ceremony on Thursday, Sanwo-Olu emphasized his administration's commitment to empowering students in state-owned tertiary institutions.
"We aim to foster a generation of innovative thinkers, problem-solvers, and great leaders who will drive sustainable development in Lagos State and beyond. We will work with the Nigerian Education Loan Fund to ensure that the new national student loan program is accessible to students of state-owned educational institutions, including LASU," Sanwo-Olu stated.

The governor highlighted the importance of academic excellence and encouraged students to pursue it with the same vigor as artistic and sporting achievements. He announced a cash gift of N10 million to Olaniyi Mubaraq Olawale, the best graduating student of the 2022/2023 session from the Accounting Education Department, in recognition of his outstanding academic performance.
LASU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, also addressed the graduates, noting the significance of the convocation ceremony as a moment of fulfillment and pride for the 89 Doctors of Philosophy and 66 professional doctoral degree recipients.
