Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education is preparing to welcome Senator Mrs. Joy Emordi as its new Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council. Senator Emordi, a distinguished figure in Nigerian politics and advocacy, is set to assume her new role at the institution tomorrow.

Born on May 23, 1955, in Onitsha, Anambra State, Senator Joy Emordi is of Igbo extraction and has a robust educational background. She attended the Queen of the Rosary College in Onitsha and obtained a B.Sc. in Geography Education from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1979. She further pursued her education in law, earning an LLB from the same university in 1985 and completing her legal training at the Nigeria Law School in Lagos in 1987.
