Serial Break-Ins and Robberies Plague Federal Polytechnic Bauchi Students

A disturbing trend of lodge break-ins and robberies has been reported in Gwallamaji, a community predominantly occupied by students of Federal Polytechnic Bauchi.

The latest incident occurred on January 11, 2025, when unknown persons broke into Steel Lodge, making off with valuable items, including foodstuffs, electronics, and other essentials.

 

This incident is not an isolated one, as a review of past reports reveals a pattern of lodge break-ins and robberies that have occurred in the community over the past year. In May 2024, a robbery spree targeted three lodges, resulting in students losing valuable items, including phones, laptops, and other belongings.

Similarly, in February 2024, 10 lodges were attacked in the community, with unknown persons breaking into several lodges, making off with over 10 phones, a laptop, headphones, power banks, and other valuables. The attacks have not only resulted in financial losses but also left some students injured.

The students and residents of Gwallamaji community are living in fear, calling on the authorities to take urgent action to address the security concerns in the area. The management of Federal Polytechnic Bauchi has also been urged to provide adequate security measures to protect the students and their properties.

 

The police and other relevant authorities have been informed of the incidents, and an investigation is ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
