Shun Cultism and Other Social Vices, UNICROSS VC Admonishes Matriculating Students

The Vice Chancellor of University of Cross River State, Prof. Augustine Angba has admonished matriculating students of the University to shun cultism and other vices.

He gave the admonishment today in Calabar campus of the University while addressing students of the University on the occasion of the 22nd matriculation ceremony of the Institution.

He emphasized that the Institution has zero tolerance for cultism, hooliganism and other vices on campus.

The 22nd matriculation ceremony was well attended by members of the University's Management, members of the University's Senate, Deans of Faculties, Heads of Department, staff of the University, students, family members of matriculating students and members of the public.

 

During the occasion, the Vice Chancellor highlighted some of his pet projects which include "Feed One, Train One Students (FOTOS)" award which is geared towards awarding scholarships to selected students with the best grades in various faculties and other awards meant to encourage students to be at their best.

He encouraged the students to remain committed to their studies by ensuring that they attend all their classes, stating that "the 70% attendance in classes to be qualified to write examination policy of the University is mandatory and binding on all students".

Prof. Angba also called on the students to always pay their school fees promptly and regularly and abide by all rules and regulations of the Institution. He urged them to be at their best behaviour at all times and be good ambassadors of UNICROSS.

 

The students were welcomed into the University through the . matriculation oath after their various Deans of Faculties presented them in that regard.

The faculties include Engineering, Biological Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Education, Physical Sciences, Communication Technology and Architecture. 

 

In her vote of thanks, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics, Prof. Mrs Joy Etiowo appreciated the Governor of the state for his continuous support for UNICROSS.

She called on the students to remain focused on their studies and thanked all members of the University's Management, Senate members, staff of the University and parents of students for their continuous support in moving the institution forward.
