Shun Cultism, Improper Dressing – AE-FUNAI VC Tasks Freshmen

The Vice-Chancellor of Alex-Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI), Ebonyi State, Prof. Sunday Oge Elom has advised the newly’admitted students of the institution to be mindful of their new academic environment, urging them to also shun cultism, examination malpractices, impromper dressing and other vices in order to have a successfully studentship in the institution.

The Vice-Chancellor of Alex-Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI), Ebonyi State, Prof. Sunday Oge Elom has advised the newly’admitted students of the institution to be mindful of their new academic environment, urging them to also shun cultism, examination malpractices, impromper dressing and other vices in order to have a successfully studentship in the institution.

The Vice-Chancellor gave this charge during an orientation programme organized recently for the freshmen admitted into the University for the 2022/2023 academic session, held at the Abubakar Rasheed Auditorium.

 

Speaking through the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Abel Ezeoha, the Vice-Chancellor praised the newly-admitted students for being among the few applicants that gained admission into the University, after a rigorous and transparent selection process, and warned them to desist from any form of social vices capable of destroying their future, as the University has zero tolerance to such acts.

 

Myschoolnews reports he further charged the students to be serious- minded in their academic activities and also to abide by the policies, rules and regulations of the university if they really want to have a successfully academic pursuit, noting that the core values of the Institution are Excellence, Integrity and Entrepreneurship.

 

Earlier while delivering his welcome address, the Acting Dean Students’ Affairs, Dr Charles Okolie said tha AE-FUNAI is one of the most serious universities in Nigeria and it does not entertain any form of academic laxity from students, stressing those those who fail to meet the required CGPA at the end of every session could be placed on probation or shown the way out of the University.

 

He warned the freshmen to be wary of those they associate with as a university is often filled with all sorts of people, and urged them to make friends with those who can challenge them academically, adding that the orientation programme was organized to educate them on different aspects of the University to help them start their journey on a strong footing.

 

The students were later taken through a long list of lectures of diverse topics geared towards preparing them for the tasks ahead.
