The prospective students of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education have been charged to shun unproductive engagements and use their time wisely during their studentship at the university.
The Acting Registrar, Mr Donald Okogbaa, gave the charge at a one-day orientation of fresh students for the 2023/2024 academic session at the university auditorium, on February, 27.
The Registrar told the fresh students to count themselves lucky for their admission, reminding them that not all who applied got admitted and urged them not to abuse the opportunity.
Speaking on “University Regulations and the Requirements for Graduating within Stipulated Time”, Mr Okogbaa cautioned the students to stay away from all forms of social vices, warning that the consequences are grave.
He urged them to be focused on their primary reason for coming to the university and reminded them that there was no better time to begin preparation for a good result but now.
“The time to make first class is now”, the Registrar emphasised.
Others who spoke at the programme were the University Librarian, Dr. Okwu Emmanuel, the Bursar, Mrs. Gift Graham-Kingsley, and the Director of Health Services, Dr. Precious Gbenoel, represented by Dr. Bieye Briggs.

Others were the Acting Director of ICT Centre, Dr. Nathaniel Ojekudo, the Chief Security Officer, Mr Nwidua Nwibari, and the President of the Students’ Union Government, Moses Bara.
The Dean of Students’ Affairs, Dr. Philemon Iyagba, represented by the Associate Dean, Dr. Ben Nwekeala, thanked the students for making the university their choice for higher education and assured that the university management is ready to provide the conducive environment to enable them excel in their studies.
