Soba Youth Awareness Movement Pays Courtesy Visit to KASU's Vice Chancellor, to Seek Collaboration on Youth Employment
The Soba Youth Awareness Movement (SYAM) paid a courtesy visit to Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, the Vice Chancellor of Kaduna State University (KASU), on Thursday, 10th July 2025, to explore potential partnership opportunities and discuss ways to address youth unemployment in the Soba community.
Leading the delegation was the Assistant Team Lead of SYAM, Tahir Mohammed. He was accompanied by other key members of the movement, including Muslim Mohammed Tanko (Secretary-General), Nura Abdullahi (Director of Monitoring and Evaluation), Suleiman Mannir (Welfare Director), Nuhu Jafar Sambo (Treasurer), and Aliyu Awal (Protocol Officer).
During the visit, Tahir Mohammed congratulated the Vice Chancellor for his admirable leadership and the achievements made under his tenure to improve the university and contribute positively to society. He also conveyed appreciation for the VC’s continuous support and shared the movement’s concern for over 500 unemployed graduates currently captured in their database.
In his remarks, Prof. Musa warmly welcomed the team and commended their passion and dedication to community development. He emphasized the importance of living purposefully and acting in ways that positively impact others, with a strong sense of responsibility to both society and God.
On the issue of unemployment, the Vice Chancellor encouraged the training and retraining of young people, which may help in reducing joblessness. He advised that young people should not limit themselves to familiar environments and instead be open to exploring different opportunities, noting that personal growth often requires stepping out of and beyond one’s comfort zone.
He further revealed that plans are ongoing for the establishment of a skill acquisition center in Soba. This initiative, he explained, will provide a structured platform for training youths and equipping them with relevant skills to enhance their employability and self-reliance.
The visit concluded with appreciation from the SYAM team for the Vice Chancellor’s guidance and warm reception, followed by a group photo session with the Vice Chancellor to commemorate the meeting
