Senator Ibrahim Lamido, through the Ibrahim Lamido Education Trust Fund, has awarded foreign scholarships to the first batch of 42 indigent students from Sokoto East. The recipients, selected from across eight local government areas, will pursue undergraduate and postgraduate programs at GEETA and MJPR universities in India. This initiative is part of Lamido’s broader plan to support 100 students from the region.

The beneficiaries, drawn from Sabon Birni, Rabah, Illela, Gada, Goronyo, Wurno, Gwadabawa, and Isa, were presented their award letters during a weekend event. The scholarship program aligns with the mission of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to provide quality education and reduce poverty. Hon. Bello Isah Ambarura, representing Gwadabawa/Illela Federal Constituency, handed out the award letters on behalf of Senator Lamido.

Ambarura praised the senator’s commitment to education, emphasizing that the initiative was not politically motivated but aimed at empowering the youth. “This scholarship reflects Senator Lamido's dedication to fostering education and promoting self-reliance,” he noted. The beneficiaries were urged to focus on their studies and serve as positive representatives of Nigeria.

Professor Muazu Shamaki, the guest speaker, highlighted the long-term benefits of the scholarships, describing it as an investment in the students' future. He also commended Senator Lamido's ongoing support for education, which includes providing JAMB forms, registration fees, upkeep for secondary and tertiary students, and distributing 30 motorcycles.

This scholarship program is part of Senator Lamido’s efforts to address youth unemployment and social vices through education. He remains committed to creating more educational opportunities for his constituents.
