Sokoto State Moves to Partner Federal Polytechnic Bauchi on TVET, Skills Development

The Sokoto State Government has announced plans to partner with the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi to strengthen Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as part of efforts to boost skills development and entrepreneurship.

The development was disclosed by the Director of the Institute of Skills Development and Vocational Training at Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, Engr. Dr. Ahmad Jumba, following a meeting with officials of the Sokoto State Government.

The meeting was attended by the Sokoto State Commissioner for Skills and Entrepreneurship Development, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, the Chairman of the Sokoto State Zakkat Commission, and other key stakeholders in the state's TVET sector.

According to Dr. Jumba, the proposed partnership is expected to promote collaboration in technical and vocational education, improve skills acquisition, and create more opportunities for workforce development.

The initiative is also aimed at enhancing the quality of TVET programmes through knowledge sharing, capacity building, and the adoption of best practices that will equip young Nigerians with industry-relevant skills.

The proposed collaboration highlights the growing recognition of Technical and Vocational Education and Training as a key driver of economic growth, entrepreneurship, and sustainable employment across Nigeria.
