SPESAN BUK Chapter Condemns Allegations, Highlights University's Support for Students with Special Needs

The Special Education Students Association of Nigeria, BUK Chapter (SPESAN BUK), led by President Auwal Yusuf, has addressed allegations made by Dhulkifl, a level 300 deaf student from the department.

In a statement, Secretary General Abdullahi Malunfashi emphasized the university's efforts to support students with special needs.

SPESAN BUK highlighted the following initiatives:

1. _Scholarships_: BUK and the Department of Special Education facilitate various scholarships for students with special needs, including deaf students.

2. _Students' Works Scheme_: The university initiated a students' works scheme, providing opportunities for students to work and earn on campus, including interpreters for deaf students.

3. _Collaboration_: The Department of Special Education and SPESAN worked together to facilitate slots for students to work as interpreters, bridging the communication gap during lectures.

SPESAN BUK urged Dhulkifl to acknowledge these efforts and support rather than criticize. The association remains committed to advocating for students with special needs and promoting inclusivity at BUK.
