SSANU, NASU, NAATS End Warning Strike, Resume Work Today

After a week-long standoff, the Joint Action Committee comprised of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational Associated Institutions (NASU), and the National Association of Academic Technologists of the University (NAATS) has officially terminated their warning strikes.

These strikes, which began over a month ago, were instigated by the exclusion of these unions from salary payments allocated to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) back in February. The withholding of salaries for SSANU, NASU, and NAATS members stemmed from the implementation of the 'No Work, No Pay policy' initiated by the former administration of President Muhammadu Buhari during previous strikes in 2022.

Despite the conclusion of the warning strikes, the government has yet to provide a substantive response to the demands put forth by the unions. Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim, the National President of the Joint Action Committee of SSANU and NASU, made the announcement during a virtual press briefing held earlier today. He expressed disappointment over the government's lack of action regarding the issues raised by the unions, particularly the outstanding salary payments.
