SSANU to Hold National Executive Council Meeting Over Strike Threat

SSANU to Hold National Executive Council Meeting Over Strike Threat

The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Allied Institutions (NASU) is set to convene a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on Friday to discuss their threat of strike action.

This decision comes after the unions issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Federal Government demanding the release of salaries withheld in 2022 during a strike. They expressed dissatisfaction with the recent release of salaries only to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Muhammed Ibrahim stated that the NEC meeting on Friday would determine the unions' next course of action. The Assistant Director of Press at the Federal Ministry of Education, Tina Obilor-Duru, did not respond to inquiries regarding the matter.
