Courtesy visits to the Vice-Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike are emerging as a deliberate strategy for coalition-building and institutional repositioning under the leadership of Ursula Ngozi Akanwa.

Since assuming office on March 1, 2026, Akanwa has hosted close to 20 stakeholder delegations, leveraging each engagement as a platform to secure strategic alignment, deepen partnerships, and mobilize support for the university’s development priorities.

The engagements cut across internal and external ecosystems, including staff unions, the Student Union Government, security institutions such as the Nigerian Army, and key sector players like the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria and the National Root Crops Research Institute. Professional regulatory bodies such as the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, alongside research-driven organizations including the Association of Organic Agriculture Practitioners of Nigeria and the JR Biotek Foundation, have also featured prominently.
